Joy to the World!

Every Sunday through this month I am going to post a Christmas song here on my blog.  Yesterday all of us girls went and caroled in our Civil War era dresses at a Civil War Christmas house tour.  It was pretty cool, and started getting us all in the Christmas "mood" as I call it.

The carol I am posting today is Joy to the World.  Probably one of the most well known Christmas carols and written by Isaac Watts in 1719, Joy to the World is a beautiful song announcing the birth of our Lord.  It calls all men to come and rejoice that our Savior has come and humbled himself as a child to save all mankind.  Isn't His love awesome?

 Joy to the World

Joy to the World , the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the World, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.

My God show you the Joy of the season this Christmas!

I learned today that one of Issac Watts first song he wrote was because he was dissatisfied with the songs that they had in his church. So I guess they told him if you don't like it let's see you come up with a better one. Obviously that unleashed some awesome music. Sometimes that is all one needs in their life is a bit of encouragement and see what comes.

Thank you Bethany Joy...for the Joy you bring to others!
